Heiko Sehnert, CEO Flash Cups GmbH Download: -1- -2- (113m x 169mm, dpi) The IdeaBehind the story of FlashCups GmBH, lies two children who normally didn’t get on very well. One day, towards the end of 2004, Heiko Sehnert, the initiator and founder of FlashCups, was observing these two children at play. Instead of being at one another’s throats, which was so often the case, the children were playing harmoniously together. Heiko was intrigued. Deciding to take a closer look, he discovered that the children were playing something that looked on one hand so easy but on the other had totally fascinating: the kids were stacking cups as fast as they possibly could! The cups were those produced by the American company ‘Speed Stacks’ but, in Heiko’s opinion, they were far too expensive for the quality that they offered. When he looked into the business side of cup stacking, Heiko saw also that the situation as it was then was far too restricted in that Speed Stacks had seen to it that theirs were the only cups that were to be allowed at competition levels. This monopoly disturbed Heiko and his sense of fairness. A little over a year later, he founded FlashCups GmbH in June 2005, producing his own cups for distribution and sale. So was the beginning of FlashCups in Germany. Partner In July 2005 Mark Rohkemper established contact with the American base company of Speed Stacks through people in Germany. Thanks to his vision regarding an overall plan for the marketing of Cup Stacking through Europe, Mark was granted the distribution rights for Speed Stacks in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. However, in November 2005 ‘Speed Stacks Inc.’ signed another contract with the global company ‘Play Along’ which gave them the exclusive rights to the world wide distribution of Speed Stacks. This meant that Mark Rohkemper lost his right to distribute even though he had outstanding contracts to supply the product. Cooperation With full knowledge of the background regarding distribution rights, Heiko Sehnert and Mark Rohkemper decided to work together to promote the sport. Meanwhile, ‘Play Along’ decided to use ‘Joker AG’ (based in Switzerland) as their distribution company Speed Stacks in Europe. However this was contract was discontinued in 2007. Since 2007, FlashCups has been the top selling cups in Europe … a position it maintains largely due to the top quality of the product is has! |
